The Animal Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) is recruiting veterinary professionals to volunteer with "Animal Connections: Our Journey Together," a traveling exhibit made possible through a partnership of the AVMA, AVMF, Zoetis, and the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service.

The exhibit, which launched during the 2013 AVMA Convention in Chicago, exposes the public to many facets of the bond between humans and animals via a variety of interactive stations, touch screens, films, and three-dimensional settings.

According to the AVMF, volunteer veterinarians, technicians, students, and AVMF supporters are needed in each city on the exhibit’s tour to:

  • Inform the public about the Ambassador for Animals Program and encourage membership.
  • Educate the public about the exhibit and the veterinary field.
  • Promote the exhibit to family, friends, and colleagues, as well as encourage attendance.

Michael Cathey, AVMF executive director, explained in a recent news release how the exhibition benefits the public and the veterinary profession.

“At the AVMF, we are committed to advancing the well-being and medical care of animals,” Cathey said. “This exhibition will not only help inspire the next generation of veterinarians, but improve current animal care through a better understanding of the role animals and veterinarians play in our lives.”
