Forward booking helps get clients through the door and keeps patients up-to-date on their medical necessities. Need some help getting started?

Partners for Healthy Pets (PHP), an alliance of 100+ veterinary associations, veterinary colleges, and animal health companies focused on preventive care led by AAHA and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), is providing free, online tools to help your practice improve your forward booking practices.

The Ready. Set. Go! Forward Booking Initiative was developed in collaboration with Veterinary Medical Association Executives (VMAE) and designed to ensure you schedule ALL patients’ next appointments before they leave your practice.

Some of the easy-to-use and implement resources include a set of six videos that take you through the process of communicating forward booking to clients. The process starts with greeting clients and every team member of your practice should be able to explain the forward booking process.

Each video is less than three minutes and includes discussion questions. The topics covered are as follows:

  • Greeting clients at the front desk
  • How management and team members can communicate
  • Peer-to-peer support & tips
  • Doctor in the exam room
  • The end of the exam
  • Checking out & client communication

PHP also offers free, downloadable posters and buttons for practices to order to remind clients to forward book before they walk out the door.
