Ever wonder who’s crafting your conference experience?

Planning for Connexity 2018 is in full swing and AAHA’s learning department is hard at work developing an outstanding lineup of keynote speakers and learning facilitators to lead highly interactive sessions aimed at finding solutions to everyday problems in veterinary practice.

Get to know them, what they’ve been up to, and all the great things they’ll be bringing to the inaugural event:

Amy Johnson, BS, LVT, RLATG
Senior Manager of Learning Programs

  • What should Connexity guests know about you?
I am a licensed veterinary technician with 16 years of veterinary education experience and want to make Connexity an incredible learning opportunity for all who attend. I’m currently working on our education schedule and inviting experts in the veterinary field to facilitate our sessions. We are working very closely with feedback from our members to make sure we present exactly what they are looking for!
  • What are you looking forward to most about Connexity?
I love the fact that Connexity is something completely new and unique, and I’m doing my best to make sure that the content presented at Connexity is different from what you will find at any other veterinary conference. I am excited that we are working closely with our learning facilitators to make the sessions interactive and we hope that everyone goes back to their practices invigorated with a plan of attack to make some changes.
  • What’s your favorite part of the job?
Every day in AAHA’s learning department offers something new and different. This job does not allow you to get bored and keeps you on your toes with constant challenges. Coming up with the best experience for our members is a challenge that I will gladly accept!

Brett Gorges
Learning Development and Support Administrator

  • What are you looking forward to most about Connexity?
I am really looking forward to the kickoff and wrap-up sessions. I can’t wait to see all of our Connexity guests interacting in the same room at the beginning and end of each day. We also have a lineup of high-caliber keynote speakers that I am stoked for everyone to see.
  • Where can guests find you?
A large part of my job is making sure our learning facilitators have everything they need to deliver a stellar session, so my home at Connexity will be the learning facilitator room. Stop by and say hi—just look for the goofy-looking tall guy!
  • What’s your favorite part of the job?
I love watching our educational sessions come to life, from initial proposals and abstract submissions to production and post-session evaluations. It’s amazing to see every session go from a simple paragraph to a lively, fun, and interactive learning experience. I especially enjoy reading your thoughts on the sessions you attend—both positive and negative—so be sure to fill out your surveys!

Shannon Burke-Banks
Product Marketing Manager

  • What should Connexity guests know about you?
As the marketing manager for Connexity, it’s my job to get the word out about this new event and ensure both current and soon-to-be guests know why they should come and what to expect.
  • What are you looking forward to most about Connexity?
I’m most excited about launching the concept in general—we don’t often get the opportunity to kick off a brand-new concept, especially one that is driven by (and exclusively designed for) our accredited members. I love the fact that we’re developing Connexity’s content around members’ direct feedback and helping guests tackle their practices’ most pressing issues.
  • Where can guests find you?
You’ll find me interacting with guests (you!) and seeking out opportunities to share the Connexity love throughout the event!
