Wake up to the smell of sage glistening in the dew, "cowboy" coffee percolating over an open fire, bacon sizzling in a frying pan, and the sound of horses grazing peacefully around camp. Then, soak in the sun as it slowly begins to march down the mountains behind you as the veil of fog slowly lifts from the valley. Sound like your typical morning CE session?

After a sold-out summer in 2013, AAHA offered two Adventure CE pack trips into the Teton Wilderness Area near Yellowstone, Wyo., during the summer of 2014. These four-day trips into some of the most remote country in the lower 48 allow attendees to wet a line in virtually untouched trout streams and saddle a horse on day rides to alpine lakes and towering waterfalls while hot, cooked meals and comfortable canvas wall tents await their return at base camp.

To top it all off, we ride out each year with practical, implementable action plans for improving our practices. This year, approved CE focused on the interpretation of profit and loss (P&L) statements with a group of peers ranging from associates and managers to new practice owners to seasoned veteran owners able to offer suggestions for going back and drastically improving our net income through revenue growth and the management of key expense categories. Don't let the casual setting fool you, while we make sure to spend ample time riding, hiking, and fishing, we also dig through our P&Ls, challenging and pushing each other to be better. Practices participating typically witness an improvement in profitability in the tens of thousands of dollars after returning home and implementing the suggestions gleaned around the campfire.

For many attendees, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and while we welcomed seasoned riders, we had several individuals this year who rarely had the opportunity to ride and still arrived at the trail head on the last day satisfied in fulfilling a lifelong dream (a few with saddle-sore rear ends to remind them of the experience!).

If you're looking for top-notch financial CE in a setting you can't get anywhere else, keep your eyes open for AAHA's Adventure CE offerings in 2015.
