Have you ever thought about creating a YouTube channel for your practice? Video is a great way to attract, engage, and educate new or existing clients, especially if you’re looking to reach a younger demographic. Your own YouTube channel can be used to teach clients basic skills, such as how to trim their pet’s nails and administer medicine, or to market your practice to a new audience.

Here are a few things to keep in mind to make your channel great:

  • Include your practice name, location, and mission statement as well as links to your other social media channels
  • Create a channel trailer to include a personal message from the owner, a tour of the facility, and a message about why accreditation makes your practice stand out
  • Create relevant titles, descriptions, and tags for each video you upload
  • Group relevant videos under their own subject heading and create custom thumbnails
  • Promote your channel and share or embed videos on your website and other social media channels
  • Don’t have time to create your own videos? Subscribe to pet health channels you like, then share the videos you feel are relevant to your subscribers
  • Videos don’t have to be professionally created or edited—use your smart phone’s video tool when in a pinch
  • Since YouTube is owned by Google, you can also create a Google+ page to advertise your practice
  • Use the YouTube Creator Forum for support, information, and more tips

Visit AAHA’s YouTube channel for inspiration. Good luck and happy uploading!
