Did you know? According to the Partners for Healthy Pets, in the past 4 years, visits to veterinarians have not increased and pet owner attitudes about preventive health care for their animals have either changed very little or were less favorable. An attitudinal change by the public toward accepting regular pet health care visits has yet to occur and will require continued diligence by the veterinary profession in communicating the benefits and value of preventive health care to pet owners.

Are your clients engaged, educated, and empowered to make wellness care a priority? The newly AAHA-recommended Pet Wellness Report (PWR) from Zoetis provides a more complete picture of pet health, helping you to promote wellness care, strengthen bonds, and communicate with your clients in a more engaging way.

The PWR is the first broadly available, standardized health risk assessment (HRA) in veterinary medicine. HRAs have been used as screening tools in human medicine for years, helping physicians pinpoint certain lifestyle and medical risk factors for their patients, and now the PWR provides this service for veterinarians, their clients, and their patients.

How the PWR works
Complementing the standard physical exam and history, the pet owner simply completes the PWR questionnaire online, which can be paired with wellness diagnostics, including blood/urine testing and parasite screening. The PWR then generates a patient-specific, easy-to-read report that acts as a catalyst to engage, educate, and empower pet owners to more proactively assess their pet’s health alongside their veterinary health care team.

What the PWR can do for you (and your clients!)

  • Provides an opportunity to improve wellness care
  • Helps identify modifiable lifestyle risks not always apparent in the medical history
  • Facilitates early disease detection
  • Helps promote more timely treatment intervention
  • Strengthens communication and bonds between the pet owner and the veterinary team

Identify health risks and disease early for a more proactive approach to veterinary care with the PWR. To learn more, or to begin offering the PWR to your clients, visit us at AAHA Tampa 2015, booth #923, or visit us online
