Allergen-specific immunotherapy (ASIT) is an effective treatment for atopic dermatitis, yet for several reasons, practitioners are sometimes hesitant to offer ASIT widely to clients. Join us for a free Web conference: "Immunotherapy for Atopic Dermatitis: New Strategies for Practice Implementation of Allergen-Specific Immunotherapy (ASIT)" November 5 – 18. We will discuss diagnostic strategies that are a precursor to ASIT, the role of ASIT in an overall multimodal management strategy, and new protocols that remove many of the barriers to client acceptance of this important treatment modality.

After attending this Web conference, attendees will be better able to:

  • Explain the benefits of ASIT to clients
  • Understand the clinical diagnosis of atopic dermatitis
  • Use "allergy testing" to evaluate a patient with atopic dermatitis
  • Develop strategies for overcoming the barriers to client acceptance of ASIT
  • Explain to clients the differences between traditional "allergy shots" and the newer orally-administered form of ASIT, along with the advantages and disadvantages of each
  • Understand the concept of multimodal treatment approach to atopic dermatitis, where ASIT fits in this approach, and the importance of setting appropriate client expectations for overall management
