The recent AAHA yearly conference in Phoenix was a whirlwind of positive activity--as a long-time member of the AAHA board of directors I always look forward to conferences as a way to connect with my colleagues, share and enhance professional knowledge through speaker sessions, conduct AAHA business, and even have a little fun!

I also had the great privilege to appear with Dr. Mark Russak to introduce a new program that has AAHA's full support--as well as my own--called Three is Key. Three is Key is an exclusive new program designed to help practices successfully assess their patients' preventive care needs, come to agreement with the pet owner on what will work best for their pets, and take action to keep more pets healthy.

We are committed to supporting the Three is Key Pilot Program, which will measure how using the information gained by a pet owner's completion of a lifestyle assessment can change conversations with clients. This is where you come in and your participation and feedback are critical to help AAHA determine whether an assessment helps pet owners reach agreement with your recommendation for flea and tick control.

To participate in the Three is Key Pilot Program, practices must use Cornerstone® practice management software (version 8.0 or higher), carry FRONTLINE brand products, send completed monthly feedback forms to AAHA's P.O. Box and commit to use an assessment tool in 100 percent of preventive care visits. Additionally, all practices must give permission for IDEXX to extract data from their Cornerstone® software at the start and end of the pilot.

Practices will receive training materials and a complimentary copy of AAHA's new book, Understanding Your Pet's Health: A Visual Guide. At the end of the program, the findings will be published so that all practices can benefit from the results.

I encourage all eligible AAHA members to sign up for this pilot program and help change the way we look at preventive care. To join, please visit us online. We need your commitment as a member of AAHA to protect more pets and reach more agreement with pet owners. It starts with us!

Be well!
