Larry Smith, creator of Smith Magazine and the Six-Word Memoir® Project, has been chosen to deliver the keynote address during the AAHA-Accredited Practice Breakfast at AAHA Austin 2016.

Smith’s message is one of storytelling. “Everyone has a story. What’s yours?” graces the top of his website. Could you tell your life story in six words? That’s the gist behind the Six-Word Memoir Project. Here are a few fun examples of Six-Word Memoirs:

“For sale: Baby shoes, never worn.” —Ernest Hemingway

“Well, I thought it was funny.” —Stephen Colbert

“Married by Elvis. Divorced by Friday.” —G.M. Rouse

“Down for maintenance. Be back soon.” —Greylond Sherman

“Don’t make me come down there.” —God

“We are champions for excellent care.” —AAHA

At the breakfast, Smith will discuss how to rock your company’s mission, motto, and story. Smith believes every member of your team—from the practice owner to the veterinary assistant—must be able to convey your practice’s mission in 30 seconds or less—or even in just six words. Join him as he leads interactive six-word prompts and responses throughout the talk, giving every attendee the ability to crisply convey their hospital’s mission to the outside world.

What's your Six-Word Memoir? Send yours to [email protected] for a chance to be featured in our publications!

AAHA Austin 2016 will be held March 31-April 3, 2016, in Austin, Texas. The AAHA-Accredited Practice Breakfast is the final morning of the conference. Visit aaha.org/austin to learn more and to register.
