Research has shown that pet owners are willing to embrace preventive healthcare, but do not completely understand its importance.

To help clients find value in your recommendations, your practice team must provide effective communication on the value of preventive care to pet owners.

Partners for Healthy Pets (PHP), an alliance of more than 100 veterinary associations, veterinary colleges, and animal health companies focused on preventive care led by AAHA and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), is offering a free, downloadable series of videos to help your team make communication with clients more effective and ensure everyone is involved in the conversation.

The Words That Work videos and scripts are designed to help make preventive healthcare conversations successful by covering a range of specific topics and reviewing techniques recommended by experts to communicate the value of preventive care. Each video comes with a downloadable supporting script. These scripts provide teams with a list of communication techniques that can be applied in everyday practice.

Videos in this series cover:

Treatment Plans and Costs
This two-minute video provides both effective and ineffective ways to explain the costs associated with a recommended treatment plan.

Words Matter: Effective vs. Ineffective Ways to Talk About Heartworm Prevention
