Are you ready to make Fear Free℠ veterinary visits a reality for your practice?

Marty Becker, DVM, and AAHA are excited to introduce the Fear Free Certification Program, an all-new educational course on VetFolio that will help you take the “pet out of petrified” and get patients back into your practice.

Open to veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and all other members of the veterinary team, the Fear Free Certification Program will officially launch at AAHA’s yearly conference in Austin, Texas on March 31, 2016.

Why Fear Free?

Veterinary visits are declining—and fear, anxiety, and stress are a significant reason why. Fear leads to trauma for many patients, and as a result, pet owners visit their veterinarian less often or not at all, instead opting to seek advice from other sources.

Fear Free certification can reverse this downward trend, restore trust in veterinarians as the true pet health experts, and reduce feelings of stress, resulting in a better experience for pets, owners, and veterinary health care teams.

Developed by board-certified veterinary behaviorists, anesthetists, and practitioners experienced in Fear Free methods, as well as veterinary technician behavior specialists and well-known veterinary practice management experts, the Fear Free Certification Program will allow veterinary professionals to:

  • Reduce or remove anxiety triggers that can cause pets to become fearful at home, in transport, and at the veterinary hospital
  • Help owners deliver calm pets to the veterinary hospital
  • Enhance the quality of medicine in their practices
  • Improve safety for the veterinary team

About the program

The Fear Free Certification Program includes eight educational modules, as well as regularly updated CE and training courses, and an extensive library of Fear Free resources.

To become certified, participants must complete all eight modules and successfully pass testing in each module. After completion of the course, certified practitioners will receive recognition of their achievement and permission to use the Fear Free certified logo. Recertification must also be completed every three years.

Starting March 31, 2016, the Fear Free Certification Program will be offered at a limited introductory price of $279 per year for individuals and $1,399 per year for practice teams (up to 10 team members).
