Compounding brochure released
The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has released a new brochure which summarizes the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) rules for compounding drugs for veterinary use.
The 12-page brochure was developed by the AVMA along with the Animal Health Institute and the American Veterinary Distributors Association. It describes what federal regulations you need to follow, compounding versus generic drugs, how to identify an FDA-approved drug, and how to identify inappropriate compounding pharmacy practices.
The brochure is available for download from the AVMA website.
