Boots & Barkley American Beef Bully Sticks recalled

Kasel Associated Industries is recalling six-count, 5-inch packages of its Boots & Barkley American Beef Bully Sticks because of possible salmonella contamination.

The beef sticks were sold in Target stores nationwide from April through September 2012, and packages being recalled feature bar code number 647263899189.

Although the manufacturer is recalling all lot numbers, the lot numbers that tested positive for salmonella contamination were BESTBY20APR2014DEN, BESTBY01JUN2014DEN, BESTBY23JUN2014DEN, and BESTBY23SEP2014DEN.

Kasel Associated Industries and the FDA are investigating the contamination, which was discovered during a routine sampling by the State of Colorado Department of Agriculture. The company has stopped manufacturing and distributing the product while searching for a contamination source during the investigation.

No illnesses have been reported in animals of humans to date, and no other products made by the company are suspected of contamination, according to a news release from the manufacturer.
