The Strait Times, Singapore’s largest newspaper, recently announced it would let pet owners memorialize their departed friends with a printed obituary and photo in the paper’s classified section, according to NYDailyNews.com.

The pet obituaries will cost $40.96 each in addition to a 7 percent goods and services tax, the news outlet reported.

While pet obituaries might seem like a hard sell in many countries, the conditions are right in Singapore for the idea to take hold.
