Iams voluntarily recalls certain lots of Shakeables treats

Proctor and Gamble has requested that retailers remove certain lots of Iams Shakeables treats from their shelves due to the potential for mold growth.

The pet food maker posted an announcement on its website notifying consumers about the mold risk, but emphasized that they have not received any reports of mold-related dog illnesses.

The product lots being recalled include:

  • Iams Shakeables Soft & Chewy Treats for Dogs (turkey flavor) - Lot numbers: 2342; 2325; 2331; 2332; 2341; 3016; 3017; 3018; 3046.
  • Iams Shakeables Soft & Chewy Treats for Dogs (lamb flavor) - Lot numbers: 2238.

According to the manufacturer, consumers can locate the lot number on the bottom of the can by locating the second line of text, and looking at the first four numbers (see photo below).

A separate announcement on the PetSmart website encourages consumers to bring recalled Iams Shakeables products to the nearest PetSmart store for a full refund.
