Natura expands recall of dry pet food products

Natura Pet Products, a Proctor and Gamble company, is expanding a previously announced recall of many of its dry pet food products due to the risk of salmonella contamination.

The overall recall affects products from five of Natura’s brands: California Natural, EVO, Health Wise, Innova, and Karma.

According to Natura, the expanded voluntary recall was prompted by the discovery of traces of salmonella in an additional dry cat food and a cat pet treat during testing by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and the Georgia Department of Agriculture.

Natura Pet Products has expanded the range of its recalled expiration dates for dry cat food to cover 1/1/2014 through 3/24/2014. The new expiration date range for recalled dry cat treats is 7/1/13 to 9/27/13. (Find an updated comprehensive list of recalled products on the FDA website.)

The company advises consumers who have purchased recalled products to discard them. Consumers can call Natura toll-free at 800-224-6123 to discuss product replacements or refunds.
