Nestle Purina wraps up purchase of Petfinder
More than a month after making known its intention to buy pet adoption website Petfinder, Nestle Purina PetCare Company announced it has completed the acquisition for an undisclosed sum.
According to Joe Sivewright, president, North American Pet Food, Nestle Purina PetCare Company, his company's history of involvement with pet welfare and animal nutrition meshes well with Petfinder's mission and efforts.
"Petfinder is an outstanding organization that is fully aligned with Nestle Purina's belief that pets and people are better together and our commitment to promoting responsible pet ownership," Sivewright said in a news release. "We are thrilled with the opportunity to combine forces - enhancing Petfinder's solid framework with our extensive nutritional expertise and vast knowledge of pet welfare."
Petfinder boasts a network of nearly 14,000 animal welfare associations and pet shelters. This network has enabled the organization to connect more than 22 million pets with adoptive homes since 1996, Nestle Purina said.
Nestle Purina will now take the helm of Petfinder's online presence, which attracts more than 100 million visits annually from pet owners in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, according to the company.
