Procter & Gamble voluntarily recalls some Eukanuba, Iams dry pet food
The potential for salmonella contamination has prompted the Procter & Gamble (P&G) Company to voluntarily recall select lots of Iams and Eukanuba dry pet foods, the company said in a recall notice on the FDA website.
P&G emphasized that the recall is relatively small, affecting one-tenth of one percent of the company's total annual production.

According to P&G, the potential for salmonella contamination arose during a 10-day window at a single manufacturing site. After routine testing raised awareness about the issue, the company decided to voluntarily recall products as a precautionary measure, P&G said.
The company also stressed that none of its other dry dog food, dry cat food, dog or cat canned wet food, biscuits/treats, or supplements are impacted by the voluntary recall.
Information for consumers
P&G is urging consumers who purchased a recalled product to stop using it and discard it immediately. Call the company toll-free at 800-208-0172 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST, or visit iams.com or eukanuba.com for more information about the recall.
