AVCPT accepting applications for certification examination
The Academy of Veterinary Clinical Pathology Technicians (AVCPT) is accepting applications for its certification examination until Jan. 15, 2014.
The AVCPT currently plans to hold the examination in conjunction with the Mid-America Veterinary Conference scheduled for Sept. 19-21 in Louisville, Ky.
According to the organization, candidates for AVCPT certification must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a graduate of an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program and/or credentialed to practice as a veterinary technician in a state or province of the United States, Canada, or other country.
- In states that do not offer credentialing, applicants must show evidence of a passing score on the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE). Applicants from another country shall be credentialed by their country of residence.
- The candidate must be a member of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA), capable of showing proof of current membership.
How to apply
Interested applicants need to obtain application materials and information from the AVCPT website. Applicants will need to send application packet materials, letters of recommendation, and a nonrefundable $50 application fee (money order or certified check) to AVCPT. The materials must be postmarked by the Jan. 15 deadline.
The AVCPT suggests that applicants send the materials by a trackable service to ensure on-time delivery.
Those who are determined to be eligible to take the examination will eventually need to pay a $100 examination fee.
