Mars Petcare US voluntarily recalls 22 bags of dry dog food

Mars Petcare US is voluntarily recalling 22 bags of Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition dry dog food following news that the affected food may contain small metal fragments introduced during the production process.

The company reported in its recall notice on the FDA website that while the potential foreign material content in the food presents an injury risk for dogs, there have been no reports of injury or illness related to this recall.

How to identify the recalled food

According to Mars Petcare US, the recalled bags were produced in a single manufacturing facility and shipped to one retail customer. The bags of food were sold between Aug. 18 and Aug. 25 in 12 Dollar General stores, which are located in the following areas:

    • Perryville
    • Cabot
  • Tennessee
    • Memphis
  • Louisiana
    • Baton Rouge
    • Calhoun
    • Hineston
    • Jonesville
    • Pineville
    • Slaughter

The recalled product came in 15-pound bags that feature the lot code 432C1KKM03, Mars Petcare US reported. The UPC number is 23100 10944, and the Best Before date is 8/5/15.
