Application deadline is Friday for AVMA Congressional Fellowship
The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is taking applications for its Congressional Fellowship program, which runs from the last week in August 2015 until early August 2016. The submission deadline is Friday, February 6, 2015.
The AVMA Congressional Fellowship program offers veterinarians, at all stages in their careers, an opportunity to serve for one year in Washington, D.C., as a scientific advisor to members of Congress.
Fellows play pivotal roles in shaping and influencing key legislation affecting the veterinary profession, and the health and safety of the nation. They also represent the veterinary profession in the legislative branch of government, influence public policy discussions, and can network with leaders at the top tier of federal government.
The fellowship includes a cost of living stipend of approximately $79,000, $6,000 to offset the cost of health insurance premiums, up to $3,000 for moving expenses, and other benefits.
