Hill’s 2015 Global Symposium, traditionally an in-person event, will be available virtually from April 27-June 30. Delegates can also join the physical gathering in Miami, Fla., on April 26-28.

The symposium will focus on obesity and the use of nutrition to improve and transform pets’ lives. A special focus will be on treating pets that suffer from concurrent conditions such as dogs suffering from arthritis and obesity, and cats suffering from lower urinary tract disease (LUTD) and obesity.

"Nutrition plays a key role in managing pet health,” said Dr. Jolle Kirpensteijn, Hill’s Chief Professional Relations Officer. “Recommending the right food for pets suffering from multiple conditions is an effective, practical solution that will encourage compliance and support a successful outcome.”

"Whether it is promoting successful aging, or dealing with a disease process such as obesity, arthritis, urinary tract disorders, cancers or maintaining brain function in a geriatric patient, it is nutrition by which our pets food can be utilized as a source of preventative and proactive medicine," said Kate Knutson, DVM, chair of the Pet Nutrition Alliance, AVMA House of Delegates Alternate, and past president of AAHA and the Society for Veterinary Medical Ethics.

The symposium will cover a range of topics. International experts will discuss the pet health benefits of using nutrition to help manage multiple health conditions. Other expert speakers will discuss issues impacting the veterinary profession, including communication, compliance, social media and diversity.

Delegates attending virtually will be able to view lectures live and participate in Q&A sessions through the virtual event center.  All lectures will also be recorded and available for viewing on demand until the center closes on June 30, including by those who attend the live events.
