Recall of phenobarbital tablets due to error in strength

C.O. Truxton, Inc. is voluntarily recalling a lot of Phenobarbital Tablets, USP, 15 mg to the consumer level. The manufacturer received a confirmed complaint that a bottle labeled as 15 mg had 30 mg phenobarbital tablets instead. This recall affects lot 70952A, is packaged in 1,000 count bottles, and has an expiration date of 11/17. C.O. Another dog food recall due to pentobarbital contamination

Two varieties of Party Animal canned dog food may be contaminated with pentobarbital. Independent testing was reported to the FDA and the complaint has been delivered to Party Animal Pet Food. The company has asked two Texas retailers to isolate and return the cans to conduct independent third-party testing. The products include cans of Cocolicious Beef & Turkey, Lot #0136E15204 04 and Cocolicious Chicken & Beef, Lot #0134E15 237 13.

PetSmart acquires Chewy.com

PetSmart is acquiring Chewy.com, expecting to close the deal by the end of PetSmart’s second fiscal quarter this year. The amount of the acquisition wasn’t disclosed, but Recode reported that the deal will close at $3.35 billion, although that hasn’t been confirmed. Founded in 2011, Chewy.com earned almost $900 million in revenue last year, and PetSmart sees the deal as a way to improve their efforts to sell more products and services both in stores and online.
