Feliza Lopez, LVT, VTS (Emergency and Critical Care), (she/her/ella), is a licensed veterinary technician with over 16 years of experience in level-one trauma specialty hospitals, international veterinary outreach, and sterilization programs for underserved Latin American communities. As the clinical director of emergency and critical care and radiology for the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center of New York, she is responsible for the clinical, financial, and organizational management of these departments.

Feliza’s passions include mentorship and leadership—and she is dedicated to helping develop career pathways in veterinary nursing and in raising technician standards and competencies. Feliza actively participates in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within veterinary medicine because she wants her peers to be able to stay in it, and specifically for people of color, LGBTQ+ people, and people from lower-income backgrounds to be able to join and lead within it.
Feliza has given lectures on urgent care training, critical care, mentorship, and DEI at conferences such as DVM360 and IVECCS. She serves as a board member for the Multicultural Veterinary Medical Association and is a member of the joint ACVECC/VECCS DEI committee. Feliza is a certified RECOVER instructor and the lead technician for Veterinarians International. She is the recipient of The Animal Medical Centers 2017 “Technician of the Year” award, and she obtained her VTS in Emergency and Critical Care in 2022.
