The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) awarded the eighth annual AAHA-Accredited Practice of the Year Awards during the AAHA Nashville 2017 Opening Session on Thursday. Loving Family Animal Hospital of Aurora, Colorado took home first place for the general practice category.

AAHA announces 2016 award winners

The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) awarded the seventh annual AAHA-Accredited Practice of the Year Awards during the AAHA yearly conference’s Opening Session on March 31. Pembroke Animal Hospital of Ontario, Canada took home first place for the general practice category. MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets-Cincinnati of Fairfax, Ohio was awarded first place for the referral practice category.

Ohio becomes second state to accept AAHA accreditation in lieu of state inspection

Accreditation represents a standard of care, and access to “best practices,” clients can trust. And state agencies are recognizing that, first in Alabama and now, most recently, in Ohio. As of March 2015, 106 veterinary hospitals in Ohio were exempt from state inspection due to their AAHA-accredited status. This makes Ohio the second state to accept accreditation by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) in place of a state inspection, this time by the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board (OVMLB).

AVMF names winner of 'America's Favorite Veterinarian' contest

The AVMF has named its first-ever "America's Favorite Veterinarian" contest winner: Dr. Carlos Campos, who owns and practices at San Francis Veterinary Hospital in Spring Hill, Fla. Campos was presented the award during the 2013 AVMA annual convention in Chicago.

Construction underway for JFK’s animal “ark”

Over 53 million passengers passed through John F. Kennedy (JFK) Airport as of December 2014, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (Port Authority). And while the number of pets that traveled through there was unavailable at press time, if the projected size of JFK’s new multi-purpose animal handling and air cargo facility, The Ark, is any indication, it’s a lot. In fact, it's projected to be 70,000.

North Royalton Animal Hospital of North Royalton, Ohio, took home first place for the general practice category. Coral Springs Animal Hospital-Referral of Coral Springs, Fla., was awarded first place for the referral practice category.
