AVMA announces winners of 3 major awards

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and Merck Animal Health this week announced the winners of three of the most prestigious awards in veterinary medicine, animal welfare, and the human-animal bond. AVMA announced the awards—the AVMA Humane Award, the AVMA Animal Welfare Award and the Bustad Companion Animal Veterinarian of the Year Award—on Monday, May 7, to coincide with National Pet Week (May 6–12).

23 million pets need your opinion

An estimated 23 million pets live with families at or below the national poverty line in the United States. Families that cannot financially provide for their veterinary care. The Access to Veterinary Care Coalition (AVCC)calls them underserved populations of pets, which AVCC defines as pets with owners whose demographic, geographic, or economic characteristics impede or prevent access to veterinary care services for their pets.
