The following American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) Terms of Use apply to all AAHA electronic communications, including AAHA’s websites, blogs, social media sites, and other electronic communications that we may send to you, such as email. By using the AAHA website and opting in to other methods of communication, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

We may periodically change these policies by updating this page. Your continued use of this site and other methods of communication after we post any revised policy means you accept our revised policy.

Ownership, license, use

This website and other methods of communication are owned and operated by AAHA. AAHA has developed certain marks, taglines, and logos to identify AAHA in a consistent manner to the veterinary industry, clients, and consumers. AAHA has registered its marks in the US and Canada and reserves all rights to their use. Unauthorized use of the AAHA marks is a violation of trademark laws of the US and Canada and is subject to legal action and penalties as provided by law.

Advertisers and content from outside providers

Advertisers appearing on any AAHA website are responsible for their own policies and procedures during e-commerce transactions. If you click on an ad to make a purchase on an advertiser’s website, we recommend that you review the advertiser’s policy regarding e-commerce transactions on their site. We are not responsible for products and services transactions that are conducted on advertiser websites.

Publication of any advertisement, product information, or white paper on an AAHA website is for informational purposes only. Periodically, we perform site maintenance activities that may disrupt the normal operations of the site. Community commenting guidelines

AAHA encourages visitors to its websites, blogs, online community, and social media channels to participate in discussion regarding the content of our online articles and social media posts and the general topics they address. In using our websites, blogs, online community and social media channels as a platform of discussion and debate, we require and encourage that each participant adhere to our Community Commenting Guidelines.

AAHA reserves the right to moderate and remove comments that are not consistent with our Community Commenting Guidelines. AAHA will not edit comments but rather will accept or reject comments in their entirety. Please also see the disclaimer in our Community Guidelines regarding discussions among competitors.

Community commenting guidelines

Do not:

  • Use lewd, inappropriate, or overly offensive language
  • Attack, harass, or threaten other users
  • Use hate speech
  • Impersonate other people
  • Reveal personal information, such as phone number or workplace, about yourself or others
  • Promote commercial material, advertise, or publish spam or spam-like content in our comment threads
  • Misrepresent the AAHA brand or aggressively criticize AAHA staff members
  • Criticize or complain about specific AAHA member hospitals; please lodge your complaints using our hospital feedback form
  • Offer specific medical advice on our website, blogs, or social media channels

AAHA-Accredited Members Facebook Group and AAHA Community guidelines

Goal/mission

The goal of this group and the AAHA Community is to help AAHA-accredited members celebrate their accreditation and support one another. The groups are designed to foster peer-to-peer dialogue to help practices share ideas and resources, and post and answer questions.

Membership/administration

Only individuals associated with AAHA-accredited hospitals will be approved for membership in the AAHA-accredited Members Facebook group. Only AAHA members are eligible for inclusion in the AAHA Community. The group is overseen by the AAHA Social Media Committee, which is composed of AAHA volunteers and AAHA staff.

Posting policy

The AAHA-Accredited Members Facebook Group and AAHA Community gladly welcome questions, advice, photos, videos, and other information related to celebrating and promoting AAHA accreditation. AAHA expects courteous and respectful discourse. Any unprofessional comments will be removed without notice. AAHA reserves the right to ban members who violate group guidelines.

Disclaimer

The American Animal Hospital Association is committed to compliance with all federal and state antitrust laws. As part of its commitment, AAHA wishes to remind all those participating in these groups that certain topics are not proper subjects for discussion by competitors. Among the subjects which should never be discussed are prices or rates charged or paid; conditions, terms and prices of services; discounts or promotional allowances; allocation of customers; divisions of markets; or refusals to deal with a particular supplier or class of suppliers. Agreements among competitors relating to any of these subjects can result in criminal and civil penalties. Criminal penalties include fines up to $100 million dollars for corporations and $1 million dollars for individuals as well as imprisonment of up to ten years. Civil damages are automatically tripled under the antitrust laws.

Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information and the user should exercise caution when deciding to disclose personal information. AAHA cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information the user transmits and the user does so at user’s own risk. It is not AAHA’s responsibility for maintaining the secrecy of any passwords the user sets up and/or any account information disclosed.

Changes to this notice

If we make any material changes to this Notice or the way we use, share or collect personal Data, we will notify you by revising the “Effective Date” at the top of this Notice, prominently posting an announcement of the changes on our Site, or sending an email to the email address you most recently provided us (unless we do not have such an email address) prior to the new policy taking effect.
