Why is Karen so awesome?

Karen *legitimately* does it all. She has been an LVT at our practice for over 20 years and got her Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Administration while working full-time (and also being a mother!). She also is our “HR department.” She is available whenever we need her. She turns into a nanny when our head doctor doesn’t have child care and needs to be at work, she is a best friend and surrogate mom for all staff, she trains staff for all positions, she busts her butt working on the floor when we’re short staffed.

How does she go above and beyond?

She’s the jack of all trades and does it with a smile on her face. Despite her titles, she isn’t too proud to pick up a mop bucket at the end of the night. She is a textbook of knowledge. We LOVE LOVE LOVE Karen…almost as much as she loves expressing anal glands.

In her own words:

Why do you love your job?

As a tech, being part of a patient’s journey from juvenile to senior is my favorite. Knowing them for their entire life and being there for them and their owners has no match.
As the office manager, being able to lead by example and prove that just because I’ve moved up in rank doesn’t mean I’m not still part of the team. There’s nothing I won’t do to help on the floor.

Tell us about your pets at home

I have a 7-year-old German Shepherd Dog named Bear.

What brought you to the profession?

I’ve always wanted to have a career working with animals so when I found out that vet techs existed it was a no brainer for me.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Time seems to be flying by the older I get – so I spend my free time with family.

Favorite book or show?

My favorite book of all time is Where The Red Fern Grows.

Favorite celeb?

Anyone who makes me laugh.  So many to choose from – Jack Black, Vince Vaughn, Terry Crews, Kevin James…
