Why is Ashley so awesome?
She cares, and she shows up for clients and their pets.
How does she go above and beyond?
She shows up for everyone, and cares for every team member. She knows that mental health and team work coincide and that grace needs to be given on hard days.
In her own words:
Why do you love your job?
I love my job because it combines two things I enjoy most: helping people and working in a field dedicated to animal care. Every day brings new experiences, challenges, and opportunities to make a difference. I enjoy building relationships with clients, supporting my teammates, and helping create a positive experience for families throughout every stage of their pet’s life. Knowing that even small actions can reduce stress, provide comfort, or brighten someone’s day is what makes this work so meaningful to me.
What brought you to the profession?
I was introduced to veterinary medicine while I was still in college. My mom worked in the field and encouraged me to apply for an open position at a veterinary hospital. At the time, I didn’t have any veterinary experience, but I was excited to learn something new.
Once I started, I quickly realized how much I enjoyed the profession. I loved that every day was different and that I had the opportunity to help both pets and the people who care about them. What started as an unexpected opportunity turned into a career that has challenged me, helped me grow, and given me the chance to work alongside some incredible people.
Tell us about your pets at home
Animals have always been a part of my life. Growing up, my family had cats, dogs, birds, and fish, and today I have 5 cats of my own.
Each of them has a unique story. Mamas is my oldest cat and has adapted beautifully after a double eye enucleation. Juju has asthma, Speckles has thyroid disease, and Little Black Cat sports an adorable little tail stump after a tail injury. Tulip is the youngest and most energetic member of the group, and although she’s no longer technically a kitten, she’s still convinced that she is.
One thing all of my pets have in common is that they were all adopted or rescued, which makes their stories even more special to me.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy keeping things fairly simple. I love spending time with my cats, watching movies, and traveling whenever I get the chance. I enjoy visiting new places, whether it’s a quick trip or a bigger vacation. Traveling gives me the opportunity to step away from my daily routine, recharge, and make lasting memories.
Favorite book or show?
It’s hard to choose just one, but Glee has been a longtime favorite. I watched it when it originally aired and still find myself rewatching it years later.
Favorite celeb?
Bruno Mars
