Colette Kase
Born in the UK, Colette Kase’s love for animals shaped a career dedicated to animal welfare. She earned a BSc (Hons) from the University of East London, focusing on human-pet relationships, and founded The Hope Project in 1991, the UK’s first initiative providing veterinary care to pets of homeless individuals. This work led Kase to the Dogs Trust, where she became Head of Behavior and Welfare and a Director of the Society for Companion Animal Studies (SCAS).
Kase established a behavior practice and dog training school in London, working on veterinary referral and as a behavior consultant for Dr. Bruce Fogle’s Portman Veterinary Clinic. In Belize, she developed Be Kind Belize, a humane education program, and started a popular blog. Now based in Mérida, Mexico, Colette writes about conservation, wildlife, and dogs, manages pet and photography blogs, and contributes to international animal welfare initiatives, driven by a lifelong passion for animals.
