FREE WEBINAR: AAHA Senior Care Guidelines

Senior dogs and cats represent 44% of the pet population, and they deserve the best care we can offer them during their senior years. The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) created the 2023 AAHA Senior Care Guidelines for Dogs and Cats to support veterinary teams in their care for each unique senior patient.

In this 1 hour of RACE approved CE credit FREE webinar, Ravinder S. Dhaliwal, DVM, MS, DACVIM (Oncology), DABVP (Canine and Feline), presents an overview of gerontology and geriatrics of companion animals, oriented towards what a practitioner faces day in and day out of  work life. During the discussion, a senior care management plan for the clinical team will be reviewed, as well as common chronic clinical conditions of geriatric dogs and cats. The goal is to help ensure senior pets live as comfortably, safely, and happily as possible.

Objectives

  1. The role of the veterinarian as the integrator and leader of  senior care of our aging companions.
  2. The importance of a good clinical team for continuity of care, bolstering family and home, and a sound doctor-client relationship.
  3. How practitioners can recognize and help families understand the concept of a palliative approach.
