Practice Consultant - Florida Puerto Rico Territory >

PRACTICE CONSULTANT 

 

SUMMARY: The Practice Consultant conducts in-person and virtual accreditation evaluation by visiting AAHA-accredited and prospective hospital members. This role also supports in- house activities and works closely with accredited veterinary hospital members daily, as they prepare for their accreditation evaluation. Additionally, a Practice Consultant serves as an ambassador for AAHA, working to promote AAHA and AAHA accreditation across North America. The Practice Consultant must possess excellent interpersonal skills, verbal, and written communication skills, and be able to work effectively as a team member dedicated to providing an exceptional member experience. This is a remote position requiring weekly travel (approximately 75%, except as travel restrictions apply). Travel may have intermittent, unexpected, and heavy requirements at times.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide an exceptional member experience for AAHA-accredited members and prospective members.
  • Support the accreditation evaluation process within their territory and other team members’ territories.
  • Work closely and collaborate with teammates both in the department and throughout the association.
  • Support member success across AAHA by contributing to an association-wide culture of member experience.
  • Provide excellent customer service and contribute to positive workplace culture. A positive “can-do” attitude and communication skills are expected to work successfully with colleagues, leadership, members, and vendors.
  • Follow all personnel policies and procedures.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as requested by the Accreditation Leadership Team.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to a satisfactory standard. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Location:

  • Must reside within, or be willing to relocate to Florida, ideally central Florida.

Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience in the veterinary industry required; experience in an AAHA-accredited practice is highly desired.
  • Previous management in veterinary practice preferred.

License/Certification:

  • CVT, LVT, RVT or CVPM required.
  • AS/BS in veterinary technology or related field is required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record required.

Knowledge, Skills and Reasoning Ability:

  • Excellent command of both written and verbal communications in English
    • Bilingual in Spanish is desired
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong influencing, negotiating, and selling skills
  • Must be professionally conversant and well-groomed
  • Highly organized and punctual
  • Readily meets deadlines
  • Ability to work well independently as well as within a team environment
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to learn new technology
  • Must be able to set up a home office for completing virtual activities, necessary paperwork, follow-up reports, and communication with association staff and members
  • Knowledge of AAHA Standards of Accreditation and/or work experience in an AAHA-accredited veterinary practice strongly desired
  • Previous experience managing a territory highly desired

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by any employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Occasional travel is required for customer programs and conferences. Will be required to travel by car and airplane. Must be able to travel with short notice. Must be able to travel long distances (parking lots to airline terminals, for example), carrying luggage and business items such as laptop and briefcase. Must be able to perform in-person and virtual business sales and relationship management work which requires moving throughout veterinary practices and sometimes involving multiple floors (stairs) and long hours (12-14+ hours inclusive of travel). May involve contact with the public in office or veterinary clinic/hospital environments with exposure to domestic animals. Travel requirements approximately 75%, except as travel restrictions apply.
