A key requirement for veterinary licensure in the United States and Canada is the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE^®), which reflects the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed by entry-level veterinarians.

Now, a carefully selected sample of veterinarians in practice have the opportunity to help build the foundation for the NAVLE^® to ensure that it accurately assesses entry-level competencies.

The task? To complete a practice analysis survey.

The Collaboration for Veterinary Assessments, consisting of the National Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners (NBVME) and National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME), launched the initial wave of the practice analysis survey in the United States on April 18. Several waves of the survey will be sent out in the ensuing weeks.

The survey will ask veterinarians about their specific area of expertise and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete, depending on the practice areas selected by the survey participant.

The survey was launched in Canada previously and received an excellent response.

NBVME is working closely with both the American and Canadian Veterinary Medical Associations on the survey’s administration. Given that this is a critical juncture for veterinary assessments, it is crucial that everyone included in this sample respond. The NBVME appreciates the time, effort, and expertise of those involved in completing the survey.
