If you or a colleague wants to brush up on leadership skills, a new opportunity enables you to do just that at no cost.

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is offering 10 scholarships to its members for the 2017 Veterinary Leadership Conference (VLC) to be held in Chicago Jan. 12-14. Scholarships are for $1,000 each.

The application deadline is Nov. 16; scholarship recipients will be notified by Dec. 1.

 To qualify, AVMA members must fall into one of two categories:

• Emerging Leader: A veterinary school graduate within the past 15 years
• Under-represented in Veterinary Leadership: A veterinarian from an underrepresented demographic, geographic, or socioeconomic group or practice
