Mindfulness, Meditation, and Making Time for Mental Health

Veterinary medicine is chock-full of goal-oriented people who are accustomed to doing well in school, meeting challenges head-on, and problem-solving their way through emotional and difficult days. I’m like that too, which means when I find something that doesn’t come naturally to me, I tend to do everything I can to avoid it.    This has been my relationship with any mindfulness or meditation practice I’ve ever tried.

AAHA Healthy Workplace Culture Initiative seeks to address mental health issues within veterinary profession

Mental health issues such as depression, career burnout, compassion fatigue, and even suicide have become an increasingly concerning problem in the veterinary profession. To address this issue, the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) is proud to announce the launch of the Healthy Workplace Culture Initiative. The initiative will address wellbeing from an alternative perspective that utilizes a positive, proactive approach to help prevent or mitigate mental health issues in veterinary practice teams.
